Volunteers are the foundation of the Antioch Historical Museum. We are always in need of people to support the programs and activities of our Museum. If you have the time, we have a position for you.
Special experience or knowledge is not required to be a volunteer- just your interest and enthusiasm. We will help you find an activity you will enjoy and train you as needed. If you do have a special skill or interest, we will definitely find a way to use it. Hours depend on your availability and during the operating hours of the Museum (Wednesday and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.).
Volunteer opportunities include the following and more:
Guide and engage visitors touring our historical buildings and grounds (The main Museum, the Antioch Sports Legends, the Firehouse, and the “Cook” House). Usual hours are Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. There are also special events and school tours. Training is available.
Assist with special events held throughout the calendar year; specific projects; and, community and educational programs. Develop materials, do outreach, assist with set-up, decorations, raffle prizes, etc. Some of the annual events include the Fall and Spring Membership Dinners, the Crab Feed, the Victorian Christmas Tea and more.
Building and Grounds Maintenance
Skills in carpentry, painting, landscaping, electrical repair, plumbing, etc. are critical to support our aging facility.
1927 Ford Model T Firetruck
Become a trained driver and participate in community parades, civic functions, Museum functions, business promotions, etc. Maintenance of this historic vehicle requires special skills. If you have this knowledge and/or experience, it would be greatly appreciated if you could share it with us.
Preserving and protecting our history is our primary goal as a historical museum. Volunteers who are interested in these activities would be trained and supervised. Work is primarily done on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Computer, financial, website, design skills, and clerical knowledge would be of tremendous value to the Museum.
